Recently I Interviewed Kathy Meis President of Bublish. I came across Bublish in a Facebook group online. I am always looking for tools to help Authors promote there books in a unique way through social media to help better connect there readers. When I went to the website and learned more about it, I realized this was still very new and in beta. I had to set up an interview to learn more about Bublish. The name is a such a marketing tool in itself. Talk about branding, in my opinion it’s really genius. What is Bublish? Bublish is a Platform were writers and readers connect. It’s a unique social marketing, commerce and discovery tool for authors and publishers. Kathy Meis is determined on improving book discovery in the Digital Age. Kathy States on her blog Just because you wrote an amazing book, doesn’t mean readers are going to find it. Online retail “shelves” have never been more crowded. Just like the lotion aisle at the local drugstore, consumer options are plentiful. To get noticed, authors must create numerous, effective points of discovery for their work. Effective book promotion in the Digital Age is ultimately about two things – having a great product and creating numerous points of discovery that make it easy for interested readers to find your work, try it and love it. Our conversation was almost 1 hour long and sorry now that I did not record it. Quite honestly you can tell when someone is very passionate about there product or service and Kathy was spot on. We talked about the struggles self publishers had in marketing there book and how important social media played a part in promoting the book if you have no publisher. She took me on a sharing session via her screen and showed how Bublish worked. With Bublish you can create a profile, upload your book, create a book bubble, share it , then you’re bublished! Writers share excerpts/insights of the book (create book bubbles). Readers then can read your bubble share or buy your book. Readers will be able to see the cover, author insight, and excerpt that was shared. Currently you can share via Facebook, Twitter and email. Kathy did say they will be eventually looking to add the sharing feature for Google and hopefully Goodreads. Bublish is still in Beta. Kathy has expressed that in time more features will be added. I also really love the Bublish clean interface. It looks easy to use. “I believe Bublish will become the self publishers social media dream tool.” Feel free to QUOTE me (Natalie Spasic) If perhaps you may be one of those Authors who are lucky enough to have a Virtual Assistant or Social Media Manager. They will have fun with this tool. It’s definitely niche. Kathy also said small publishers are using this tool avidly and getting great results with it. Which begs to wonder if this tool will remain Free? Me and Kathy both agreed that being a self publishing Author is like running your own business. Indeed it is. From our conversation I got the feeling Bublish will always have a free account, but in the upgrades to come there will be added features and a premium cost attached if you would wish to upgrade. Never the less, a great tool for Authors. Make sure you offer readers a well-written, well-edited and well-designed book. SIGN UP NOW
